At Mamala, we serve the sisterhood through convenient, delicious whole-food nutrition—Support Snacks™, iykyk :)—and the information that helps us heal, revive, and thrive. Because wellness doesn’t stop at what we eat, we care just as much about what we put on our bodies.
In that spirit, we sat down with one of our most beloved Mamalas—the Queen of Clean Beauty herself— Lanning Ardente , Founder & CEO of Sorette —to break down what clean skincare really means, especially through the postpartum lens. Use code: MAMALA15 to shop the edit.
Q: What is Sorette?
A: Think of Sorette as your older, wiser, expert sister. At Sorette, we vet products across formulation, supply chain, and manufacturing for every stage of the motherhood journey: fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, baby, kids, and home.
Our Seal of Approval helps brands cut through greenwashing and credibly connect with the modern mom consumer, while giving moms a trusted North Star across categories.
Q: Walk us through a Sorette Approved prenatal/postpartum morning routine
A: I don’t normally cleanse my face in the morning, but during the postpartum phase I was such a night-sweater (if you know, you know!) that I had to shower every morning. My go-to combo was Doctor Rogers Face Wash — gentle, fragrance-free, and dermatologist-developed — paired with an invigorating body wash that has a light, uplifting scent. TMI but my BO was totally different postpartum, so I leaned into a clean, essential-oil-based body wash like the KORA Organics Renewing Hand & Body Wash that made me feel fresh without being overly perfumed.
Next, I focus on protection from both environmental stressors and the sun, so I can keep my hyperpigmentation and melasma at bay!! I use Chebula Active Serum, followed by The Outset Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturizer, then layer on a mineral sunscreen like Le Prunier Plum Screen or KORA Silky Sun Drops (depending on what I have on hand).
I finish with a touch of La Bella Donna Lip-Duo in Devotion ( I’m a new lip liner convert!) and top it with Doctor Rogers Healing Balm for a little hydration and shine.
Q: Walk us through a Sorette Approved prenatal/postpartum night routine
A: Evenings were (and still are) about grounding. I start with an oil-based cleanser, especially if I’ve worn makeup or SPF during the day — I love the Oak Essentials Cleansing Balm, you put it on dry skin then massage and rinse off with warm water and a wash cloth. It leaves your skin clean and bouncy! Then I apply a hydrating serum like LINNÉ Renew Serum or Doctor Rogers Night Treatment — both Sorette Approved for their gentle, restorative formulas that support skin through hormonal changes.
I seal it all in with a nourishing face oil, like Le Prunier Face Oil or LINNÉ Repair, and finish with the True Botanicals Overnight Lip Treatment. A few minutes of gua sha before bed helps me unwind and signal to my body that it’s time to rest.
Q: Any specific products for acne-prone or sensitive skin
A: I’m loving a brand called Cool As A Cucumber, which specializes in calming acne-prone and sensitive skin. Their formulations are super gentle, Sorette Approved, and perfect for balancing skin during hormonal shifts.
Q: If a woman wants to begin her clean, non-toxic beauty journey, where should she start?
A: Start small. Iit doesn’t need to be an overnight overhaul. I always suggest swapping out the products you use most often and that stay on your skin the longest: think moisturizer, SPF, and body lotion. When you’re finished with the existing bottle, replace it with a safer product!
From there, look for transparency in ingredient lists and avoid vague “fragrance” or “natural flavor” labels; they're often black boxes hiding dozens of undisclosed chemicals. And when in doubt, look for the Sorette Seal of Approval or shop our store online. We’ve done the research so you can feel confident about what you’re using.
